Reinstall or change the application on your VPS

Reinstall your application from scratch whenever you want, or switch to another application or a regular VPS through a ticket. It wipes the disk: back up first.

Each plan with an application is ordered with its application already set. You can reinstall that same application yourself whenever you want, and switch to another application or to a regular VPS by requesting it through a ticket.

Important: both reinstalling and switching applications wipe the entire VPS disk: workflows, applications, databases, the agent's memory and any file. Back up anything you want to keep before you start.

1. Back up what you want to keep

Download the backups to your computer before going on: anything left on the server is wiped.

2. Reinstall the same application

  1. Go to your client area and open your server.
  2. Open the Settings tab and find Reinstall OS.
  3. Pick your application, which is the only option on your plan, and confirm.

Afterwards:

  • You receive the email with your VPS access details again, with a new root password.
  • A few minutes later the email for your application arrives with new credentials, which you will also see in the "Your application" section.
  • The astrolnodes.app address stays the same. If you were using your domain, the DNS record still works, but you need to set it up again in the application.

3. Switch to another application or to a regular VPS

Each application is a separate product, so we make the switch. Open a ticket with your service number and the application you want to move to.

  • Between plans of the same size, for example from n8n 4 GB to OpenClaw 4 GB, the switch is free of charge.
  • To a regular VPS with the same memory, at the same price, also free of charge. On the regular VPS you choose the operating system.
  • If the new application needs a larger plan, such as Dokploy, which starts at 4 GB, it is done as a normal upgrade and you pay the difference.

The switch involves reinstalling the server, so the above applies: make your backups first.

Tip: if what you need is more memory or disk for the same application, there is no need to reinstall: upgrade your plan and keep everything.
