You decide when Hermes is updated: we do not apply updates on our own.
Before you update
Make a backup with hermes backup (how) and, if you are jumping to a new major version, read the release notes in the Hermes Agent documentation.
From the panel
In the System tab, press Check for updates and follow the steps.
From the terminal
Log in over SSH as root and run, as the hermes user:
su - hermes
hermes update
systemctl --user restart hermes-dashboard
The messaging service restarts on its own; the panel needs the last line to load the new version.
Check that everything works
As root:
hermes-admin gateway status
hermes-admin doctor
Update the operating system
Ubuntu is updated separately, whenever you decide:
apt update && apt upgrade -y
If it asks you to reboot, reboot: the agent and the panel start again on their own.
