We keep two servers open, one in Germany and one in Miami. Join from Java or Bedrock, on whatever version you run, and see how they perform before paying for anything.

If after the trial you decide it's not for you, you pay nothing. If you keep it, billing starts the next day at the regular price.

How to update OpenClaw on your VPS

Update OpenClaw with its own command, check the configuration afterwards and keep your VPS operating system up to date.

47 views Updated 17 Oct 2026

You decide when OpenClaw is updated: we do not apply updates on our own. OpenClaw has its own updater.

Before you update

Back up the agent's configuration and memory folder: OpenClaw backups. If you are jumping to a new major version, read the release notes in the OpenClaw documentation.

Update OpenClaw

Log in over SSH as root and run, as the openclaw user:

su - openclaw
openclaw update
openclaw doctor

openclaw doctor checks the configuration, the provider key and the channels after the update, and suggests fixes if something has changed.

Check that everything works

As root:

openclaw-admin gateway status

If the service is not running, restart it with openclaw-admin gateway restart and look for the reason in openclaw-admin logs --follow.

Update the operating system

Ubuntu is updated separately, whenever you decide:

apt update && apt upgrade -y

If it asks you to reboot, reboot: the agent and the panel start again on their own.
